Athena - At Honfleur - Plenty of Tug Action

Photographs  John H. Luxton 2012

These photographs were taken on June 07, 2012 when the M/V ATHENA called at Honfleur, France. Unfortunately very heavy rain precluded the taking of photographs during the ships arrival. She was assisted on to the berth by CAPITAINE JEAN THOMAS seen left and was along side by around 12:00.  After around 14:00 the weather fortunately cleared.

Departure commenced just after 21:22 assisted by CAPITAINE JEAN THOMAS as bow tug and BON SECOURS I operated by Remorquage Maritime De Rouen. BON SECOURS let go her tow line around 21:55. Unlike many modern ships ATHENA is rather reliant on tugs for manoeuvring which makes a voyage on her rather interesting.
