Edgcumbe Bell on the Cremyll Ferry

Photographs  John H. Luxton 2014

EDGCUMBE BELLE, originally built for British Railways Western Region in 1957 as the HUMPHREY GILBERT has travelled around the West of England quite a lot working for a number of operators most recently operating back on her original route between Dartmouth and Kingswear for the Dart Valley Railway plc. For 2014 she has returned to the Tamar where she has spent time in the past to operate on the Cremyll Ferry route between Plymouth (Admirals Hard) and The Cremyll in Cornwall.

EDGCUMBE BELLE is seen here on Thursday May 29 in the company of SD FORCEFUL and a little later with German frigate FGS LUBECK passing inbound for Devonport Dockyard. Photographs are also shown below of the ferry terminal including the now unused ticket office and turnstiles which have been retained as a heritage feature.
