Celebrity Infinity - Delayed Departure from Liverpool

Photographs  John H. Luxton 2013

GTS CELEBRITY INFINITY was somewhat late departing from Liverpool on May 18, 2013. She had been due to depart at 18:00 however, there was a delay in the completion of bunkering operations by MERSEY SPIRIT.

A pilot was put aboard MERSEY SPIRIT at 18:15 but she remained along side CELEBRITY INFINITY until well after 19:00 by which time MANANNAN had departed on her 19:00 sailing to Douglas. These photographs were taken from Seacombe.

Bunkering operations appeared to continue for another hour until MERSEY SPIRIT moved off at around 19:20. Tug SVITZER NARI then came alongside to assist in the departure.

The final lines were let go around 19:40 and CELEBRITY INFINITY moved astern and away from the stage, before changing direction and swinging to starboard, assisted by the ebb tide her swing increased in speed and she was heading away downriver by 19:57.
