The Isle of Man Steam Packet
Company's VIKING departed from Gladstone Lock around 15:45 on
Thursday July 23, to begin her delayed summer charter to Atlantico
Line. She was lead out of the lock by tug SMIT LIVERPOOL. The tow
being dropped as her bow swung out into the river. AS she
accelerated away, copious amounts of black smoke were ejected from
her funnels. The port side of VIKING has lost the steam-packet.com
web address due to repainting following the insertion of a side
