Fred. Olsen Lines BLACK PRINCE at St. Malo on her final call on August 27, 2009. During the afternoon her stern door was opened to allow the deployment of a dinghy for painting work from the area which is occupied by her now seldom used "Marina Park". Despite BLACK PRINCE's pending withdrawal in mid October 2009, painting and general maintenance was being vigorously carried out. As she departed in the evening a large number of "St. Maloans" gathered to watch, some of whom can be seen in the photograph on the bottom right. BLACK PRINCE being the only ship in the Fred Olsen fleet small enough to enter the lock (and it was a tight fit) means that any calls by her fleetmates in future will require offshore anchoring and passenger tendering.
