Balmoral Visits Dublin

Photographs  John H. Luxton 2011

Fred. Olsen Lines' BALMORAL visited Dublin on Friday August 12, 2011. She was assisted at the stern by Dublin Port Company's tug SHACKLETON. With #2 ro/ro ramp astern BALMORAL only just fitted the berths 36/37 on Ocean Pier which overlooks Alexandra Basin East with her bow protruding slightly into the Liffey. There was just enough space available to swing the ship's gangway which is stored on the foc'sle onto the quayside.

Departure from Dublin was delayed from 18:00 to 20:13 due to a delay in the arrival sewage tankers and subsequent delay in discharging effluent from the ship.

Dublin Port pilot vessel CAMAC (left) follows the BALMORAL out of the port ready to pick up the pilot.
