Celtic Star - A Rough Crossing?!

Photographs  Jim Edgar & John Luxton 2006

The adverse weather which hit the Irish Sea on Thursday November 30, 2006 disrupted many operator's sailings. Celtic Link's CELTIC STAR can be seen at Brocklebank Dock, Liverpool on Friday December 01, revealing just how rough conditions must have been. Three drop trailers appear the worse for ware having slewed across the deck.

One trailer has broken through the rails and can be seen to be somewhat precariously overhanging the port side whilst another other leans drunkenly against it whilst just beyond a third trailer can be seen on its side. By the late afternoon of December 01, a crane was at work on the dock site lifting skips on board the vessel which appeared to be being filled with the contents of the overturned trailers which were understood to be pizzas!. A correspondent advises that eight trailers went overboard!
