GRAND PRINCESS which sails for Carnival Corporation's Princess Cruises Division made her maiden call at Liverpool on June 11, 2008. At 108,806 grt she is the largest passenger ship ever to call at Liverpool. As passenger ships go she can hardly be considered a thing of beauty and it is not hard to see why her critics have christened her the "shopping trolley" - just look at her stern and you will see why! She was built at the Monfalcone yard of Fincantieri in 1998 and was the first passenger ship built for the then Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company.  She is due to visit Merseyside again later in 2008.
