RFA Fort George at The Plymouth Sound Mooring

RFA FORT GEORGE [A388] seen at the Plymouth Sound moorings just inside Plymouth Breakwater on Sunday June 29, 2007. She is a Fort Class II ship completed in 1992 by Swan Hunter. She has a displacement of 35,500 tons and measures 204m x 30m x 9m . Speed 20 knots. Armament: 4 x 30mm guns, 2 x Phalanx and fitted for but not with a Sea Wolf missile system. 
 

RFA FORT GEORGE operates in a repair and replenishment role, can operate and maintain a flight of 5 Sea King or 3 Merlin helicopters. She can also function as a primary casualty receiving ship. She has a crew of 100 RFA, 24 MoD, 32 Royal Navy and 122 Fleet Air Arm.
