SPS Marola at Santander

SPS MAROLA is the third of 10 vessels of the "Anaga" class. The ships of this class take the names of Islands and Rocks around the coast of Spain.

Marola is a small barren island located in the mouth of Rķa de Ares and Betanzos. The keel of SPS MAROLA was laid on September 28, 1979 in the Carrack Shipyard. She was launched in April 1980 and commissioned into the navy on March 13, 1981. She is based at Santander for patrolling the Biscay coast.
