LE Samuel Beckett Naming and Commissioning Ceremony

The new Irish Naval Service OPV90 class offshore patrol vessel LE SAMUEL BECKETT [P61] arrived at Dublin on Friday May 16 for her naming ceremony on Saturday May 17. She is one of two new vessels constructed by Babcock Marine of Appledore, Devon for the naval service. The vessel cost  54m.

The photographs show her berthed at Sir John Rogerson's Quay, Dublin close to the Samuel Beckett Bridge.

Caroline Murphy, niece of Samuel Beckett performed the ceremony, with Taoiseach and Minister for Defence Enda Kenny in attendance.
