HMS Queen Elizabeth Flight Deck Departs Cammell Laird

On the afternoon tide of May 28, 2012 flight deck of sections of the Royal Navy's new aircraft carrier HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH departed from Cammell Laird loaded on board Anchor Marine Barge AMT CHALLENGER. The barge was conveyed out of the Mersey by Smit tugs SMIT SANDON and SMIT WATERLOO, assisted ay Cammell Laird by SMIT DONAU and Svitzer's ASHGARTH. The Smit tugs transferred tow to ocean going tug CARLO MAGNO operated by Augustea Imprese Marittime E Di Salvataggi SPA of Italy at the Bar for the voyage to Rosyth where the carrier components are being assembled.
