HMS Liverpool - The Last Homecoming

On Wednesday February 29, 2012, Type 42 Destroyer HMS LIVERPOOL made her final return to Liverpool prior to decommissioning, Cannon were fired from Fort Perch Rock in salute as she sailed up the Mersey to the Liverpool Cruise Terminal. A banner towing plane made a fly past.

HMS LIVERPOOL is due to depart Liverpool on March 05, 2012 when she is due to sail up river and fire a gun salute off her birthplace the Cammell Laird shipyard where she was built, before sailing back past the Pier Head where she will fire a further salute. She will be decommissioned at Portsmouth at the end of March.
