A Visit to HMS Ark Royal

These photographs were taken during a World Ship Society visit to HMS ARK ROYAL during her first ever visit to Merseyside on Sunday June 08, 2008.

Views of the carrier from the Liverpool Cruise Terminal Stage.

The hangar deck (right). The nearest photograph shows the mechanism for one of the flight deck lifts.

Views from the bridge, forward and starboard side. The presence of the vessel drew large crowds to the Liverpool waterfront during the weekend on June 07 /08/
Views of the flight deck. The Sea King helicopter on deck is from RNAS Culdrose in Cornwall. The ship's bell is at a slightly odd angle - it isn't the camera! Finally at the bow (right) one can see one of the three "goalkeeper" guns which protect the ship. from air attack
