Abeko Server 2 and Friends Work to Repair Twelve Quays North

Photographs  Adrian Sweeney & John Luxton 2012

On Friday July 06, 2012 the Birkenhead Twelve Quays north ro/ro berth was damaged by the cargo ship KASTOR (2,452grt) which was approaching Birkenhead Alfred Lock. The collision collapsed one of the dolphins and the connecting ropemen's walkway. On November 14, 2012 several vessels were noted in attendance including Abeko BV's dipper dredger ABEKO SERVER 2, Marine and Towage Services MTS INDUS and MTS VECTOR.

On Saturday morning November 17, MTS VECTOR was noted being loaded with a number of waste skips off the river wall at Twelve Quays, she then proceeded across to the Steam Packet stage at Liverpool presumably to await low water when recovery of the sunken components of the walkway can recommence. Also working in support of the operation was the Merseyside based charter passenger vessel HALCYON DAYS which was berthed alongside the Twelve Quays pontoon.
