Pharos At Work Off The Isle of Man

Photographs  John H. Luxton 2012

The Northern Lighthouse Board is the general lighthouse authority for Scotland and the Isle of Man. Their tender NLV PHAROS [3569 grt / 2006] (the tenth vessel of that name to operate for the Commissioners of the Northern Lights) is seen off the coast of the Isle of Man between August 17 and 19th. She was built by Stocznia Remontowa SA of Poland along with sister vessel THV GALATEA built for Trinity House.

NLV PHAROS is seen here off the remains of Port Erin Breakwater (above and left) on Friday August 17th and from near Bradda Head right.

On Saturday August 18th she was still at anchor off Peel.

Sunday afternoon NLV PHAROS was at anchor of the south east side of the Calf of Man. She was also carrying a helicopter on her helideck. Presumably she was undertaking work on Chicken Rock Lighthouse
