Irish Sea Pioneer and OSI - Helicopter Crew Transfers

Photographs  John H. Luxton 2013

On Saturday July 20, 2013, the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company's MANANNAN passed the offshore support vessel IRISH SEA PIONEER and Liverpool Bay OSI on her 11:15 Liverpool to Douglas sailing just as helicopter crew transfers were taking place.

The Bond Helicopters Eurocopter Dauphin II called first at IRISH SEA PIONEER which was jacked up alongside the Hamilton North platform and then flew across to the Liverpool Bay OSI where another crew transfer undertaken.

Whilst these transfers are a regular feature of offshore operations to actually be in the right place at the right time to photograph them is a different matter. Unfortunately visibility was not particularly good as there was a prevalent haze and a some manipulation has been necessary to improve the images.
