General cargo ship RMS JURMALA (1981) is seen swinging on the flood tide around 10:50 in readiness to entering Alfred Lock on Saturday February 25, 2012. The Belize registered RMS JURMALA is operated by Clermont Services and owned by Jurmala Shipping, both of Riga, Latvia.
|Around 80 minutes later the small bulk carrier SULTAN ATASOY (2010) performed a similar manouvre in preparation for entering Alfred Lock as she passed Seacombe Landing Stage. SULTAN ATASOY is owned by the Atasoy Group of Shipping Companies based in Istanbul where the ship is also registered. |
|After arriving in Birkenhead Docks RMS JURMALA had laid alongside the former Clan Line berth in East Float - at 13:25 she began to move off as at the same time SULTAN ATASOY passed through "A" Bridge. RMS JAMALA passed through Duke Street Bridge to enter the West Float at around 13:45. RMS ATASOY did not immediately follow through and the bridge was lowered for around 15 minutes to clear a traffic build up. |
