Irish Sea Pioneer Jacked Up On the Hamilton Field

Photographs  John H. Luxton 2012

Whilst whilst the offshore service vessel IRISH SEA PIONEER [2692grt / 1996] has been a familiar sight in Liverpool Bay and on the Mersey servicing the various rigs, it is usually difficult to get close to her whilst she is jacked up. On the afternoon of September 08, 2012, the Isle of Man Steam Packet's MANANNAN passed fairly close to IRISH SEA PIONEER whilst she was jacked up above the Hamilton Field west of Southport which enabled these photographs to be taken in the rather good light.

Built in 1996 she is now operated by BHP Billiton Petroleum of London and managed by Petrofac Facilities Management of Aberdeen, though in her early years she had been owned by the US based Halliburton Manufacturing.
