Cable Enterprise Departs Cammell Laird

Global Marine Systems cable laying vessel CABLE ENTERPRISE departed Cammell Laird wet basin on the afternoon tide of Saturday October 06, 2012. bound for the Gwynt-y-Mor windfarm. She was assisted out of the wet basin by SMIT SANDON (lead tug) SMIT BELUGA, SMIT BUFFALO with SMIT COLLINGWOOD on the stern. Once in the river she used her crane to retrieve one of her fenders before being swung around and the tow transferred to tug FAIRPLAY 27 for the journey down river. Originally a SMIT heavy lift barge she was rebuilt as a cable layer on the Tees and completed in spring 2012.
