Historic Norwegian Passenger Ship Sandnes

Photographs  John H. Luxton 2012

MV SANDNES was completed in 1950 to operate the overnight passenger service between Stavanger and Bergen. Following withdrawal she became a training ship until 1995. She is now listed by the Norwegian Directorate of Cultural Heritage and is the largest preserved ship in Norway. She now operates fjord cruises and is used as a venue for social and hospitality events. She is seen here in Stavanger Harbour on Sunday August 05, 2012 which is now her base.
