On Sunday June 01, 2014 the unveiling of a memorial to the crew and civilians on board HMS THETIS took place close to the Birkenhead Woodside ferry terminal. The event drew participants from near and as far away as Tasmania. The Lord Mayor of Wirral undertook the unveiling with Plessington School Band providing the musical accompaniment. On the river pilot vessels DUNLIN and TURNSTONE were present. The ceremony took place at the precise time that HMS THETIS sank.
