The above photographs record the protest against Peel Ports owned Marine Terminals which was held on August 27, 2009. John writes: "A number of SIPTU members who have been on strike for 8 weeks, took to small boats to try to block the port. There was a significant Garda and I presume Harbour Police presence both on land and on the three pilot vessels, 'CAMAC,' 'DODDER' and 'LIFFEY.' By sheer chance I was there and took a few photos, but I missed the successful blocking of the 'STENA NORDICA' which was delayed for a very short time. A picture of this appeared in the Irish Independent. The protest was called off when the news was relayed that the Labour Relations Commission would hear the matter involving the company - Marine Terminals - and SIPTU.
