Old Lamb Banana's Nautical Predictions for 2007

Including June 30 2007 and December 31, 2007 Review

There has been quite a lot of discussion on some maritime discussion groups concerning predicted developments in 2007.

On this page Irish Sea Shipping presents Old Lamb Banana's (With apologies to Old Moore!) Celtic and Irish Sea Nautical Predictions for 2007.

Some of the predictions are serious - some are seriously light hearted - its up to you to decide which are which!

The predictions have been reviewed on June 30 and December 31 - review comments show below predictions. Overall Old Lamb Banana's predictions for 2007 achieved a reasonable level of  accuracy during the course of the year!

1. The remaining part of the original Prince's Stage at Liverpool will sink before the new cruise ship extension is attached.

2. Irish Ferries will announce a "new" second hand ship for the French services.3. Isle of Man Department of Tourism will call the Isle of Man Steam Packet to account for continuing to erode day excursion opportunities to the island.4. Irish Ferries move JONATHAN SWIFT to spring / summer / autumn operation with services suspended between Christmas and Easter. 5. Dubai Ports World sell P&O Ferries to another European operator. One which is not yet a big player in the UK ferry business.
It didn't happen - Old Lamb Banana was being a bit too pessimistic!

[December 31]

 6. Liverpool Prince's Stage cruise ship extension will not be completed on schedule.

7. Proposals  to save the ROYAL IRIS in time for Capital of Culture Year will be announced.8. The future of HSS operations on the Irish Sea will come under further scrutiny with the possibility of the withdrawal of at least one route being considered for 2008.9. Barrow based James Fisher will take over as managers of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary.10. The Cammell Laird name will once again grace the historic Birkenhead  shipyard.
Completed late - Royal Navy visit cancelled. MAASDAM forced to enter docks. However, was complete in time for official opening - but only just and then two sections had to be taken away for dry-docking after the event!  [December 31]Surprisingly it didn't happen! Attention still appears focussed on HMS WHIMBREL.
