Old Lamb Banana's Nautical Predictions for
2007 Including June
30 2007 and December 31, 2007 Review |

There has been quite a lot of discussion on some
maritime discussion groups concerning predicted developments in
2007. On this page Irish
Sea Shipping presents Old Lamb Banana's (With apologies to Old
Moore!) Celtic and Irish Sea Nautical Predictions for
2007.
Some of the predictions are serious - some are seriously light
hearted - its up to you to decide which are which!
The predictions have been
reviewed on June 30 and December 31 - review comments show below predictions.
Overall Old Lamb Banana's predictions for 2007 achieved a reasonable
level of accuracy during the course of the year! |

1. The remaining part of the
original Prince's Stage at Liverpool will sink before the new cruise
ship extension is attached. |
2. Irish Ferries will announce a "new" second hand
ship for the French services. |
3. Isle of Man Department of Tourism will call the
Isle of Man Steam Packet to account for continuing to erode day
excursion opportunities to the island. |
4. Irish Ferries move JONATHAN SWIFT to spring /
summer / autumn operation with services suspended between Christmas
and Easter. |
5. Dubai Ports World sell P&O Ferries to another
European operator. One which is not yet a big player in the UK ferry
business. |

by the company from Color Line to enter service in 2008.

6. Liverpool Prince's Stage cruise ship
extension will not be completed on schedule. |
7. Proposals to save the ROYAL IRIS in time for
Capital of Culture Year will be announced. |
8. The future of HSS
operations on the Irish Sea will come under further scrutiny with
the possibility of the withdrawal of at least one route being
considered for 2008. |
9. Barrow based James Fisher will take over as
managers of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary. |
10. The Cammell Laird name will once again grace
the historic Birkenhead shipyard. |

Completed late - Royal Navy visit
cancelled. MAASDAM forced to enter docks. However, was complete in
time for official opening - but only just and then two sections had
to be taken away for dry-docking after the event! [December

Surprisingly it didn't happen!
Attention still appears focussed on HMS WHIMBREL.

11. Merseyside based bigferries.com may finally
reveal plans for a new ferry service on the Irish Sea. |
12. SeaTruck will open a new service between the UK
and Ireland. |
13. Irish Naval Service will order at least one new
patrol vessel as a replacement for one of older Dierdre class ships. |
14. To overcome competition authority problems one of
the Mersey tug operations will be sold to a European tug operator -
possibly
Norwegian. |
15. The price of a large hot chocolate at the
Seacombe Ferry Terminal buffet will reach £3.00 |

16. Isle of Man Steam Packet Company will order a
conventional high speed vessel after finally admitting fast craft
are not suitable for operation on the island routes in winter. |
17. HMS Plymouth will return "home" to Devon from her
exile in Birkenhead. |
18. Isles of Scilly Steamship Company will reveal
detailed plans for SCILLONIAN IV. |
19. SUPERSEACAT TWO will suffer another gearbox
failure. |
20. Irish Sea Shipping front page hit counter will
have reached 700,000 by December 2007. |

The new ship didn't materialise
- but the BEN-MY-CHREE is operating the 2007-8 Merseyside
weekend service after the company admitted that SSC2 was unsuitable
for winter operation.
