As a child born in 1944 from 1949 to 1960 I travelled yearly to the I O Man to stay with realtives. Birmingham to Birkenhead Woodsid by train over the Mersey by ferry and walk along to the IOM Boat. King Orry Lady of Mann and many others. The days when cars were lifted on by crane. I was 10 years old when I made my first journey on my own. On one occasion as a junior first aider the journey took 8 hours my first aid was put to good use. Couldn't do it today. Happy Memories. Dave Cross

Many thanks for displaying pictures of the Sea Express fast ferry, as you obviously realise it means much to us Manxies to see and learn as much as we can about what happened over there. I am a lifeboat crewman, 25 years in, and have never had anything such as this to attend from here at Ramsey. I have added your website to me favourites, and will keep a regular watch on it from now on. I am also a ship modeller so find much of interest in all things nautical. Kim

Congratulations on an exellent site, I used to run reguarly into Ringsend Dock in the late 70s and early 80s and I was looking within the site of a mention of Ringsend Docks as in its day it was a very busy Dock for small coasters that ran to the glass works and bolands mill. well done Peter...

I am very much a retired holiday-maker and recently booked a cruise to Santander on the PontAven. I am due to go soon and in my research for the trip, came across the John Huxton (I hope I have remembered the name correctly) report on his similar trip last year. I have printed the text and am sure it will be invaluable with so much information provided. I must say I am even more excited about the two day trip I am embarking! on in June. Thank you John for such a full and detailed account of your adventure.

I did visit the small port - now a marina to the east of Belfast on Pass of Drumochter when making up some sea time - I was also on the Cerdic Ferry - but thats another story! Brian Nibbs

good day. recently i was on board of the Irish vessel Clontarf, and i learned that this compagny did also the management of my former(as captain) vessel. At present it is named Clonmore. I was suprised to find a few good picture on your site. Hopefully she will call Rotterdam more often since i 'am a nautical pilot at te rotterdam region now for three years. By the way the former name of the Clonmore was 'Banjaard' and not 'Banjadd'as you stated on your site. All the best with your site and i hope to visit it more often. Good luck. Reinier Verschoor

Have there been any announcements regarding Norse Merchant Ferries future, especially on the Dudlin route? This was undoubtedly the best Irish Sea crossing I have encountered in 42 years of private travel, if a little expensive. The P and O passenger service from Seaforth is appalling and no alternative at all. Equally I have not seen any mention of the service cutbacks in the local media. Quite a contrast to when 12 Quays was opened. I wonder why?

Good Website, but I find the detail in the voyage reports a little ridiculus, EG " left 11 minutes behind scedule" and "Passesd the Baily at16.03".Completly irrelevant. I think your audience may find the actual information on the ship more interesting as oppossed to unknown ships that are noticed a considerable distance away...

I was looking for history on the Millbrook Steamboat Co. I was a deckhand on the Northern Belle at the age of 15. I am also interested in the history of the LPG carrier Frostfonn which I believe used to dock at Ellsmere port. I have the original ships bell. You have an excellant site.

I wish I had found this earlier but now that I have I will be in and out checking up on passing vessels. An additional bonus is the advice on maritime radio, I will now be looking for a scanner to enhance my enjoyment of this new-found hobby, I will also need a nice anorak !!

I found this fantastic site by logging on to Seascapes a radio programme on RTE. It is now in my Favourites for regular visits. I was delighted to see photos of ships in Cork Harbour I have intended for years to photograph. In Ireland we are a small group and should use the site to get in contact.

Great Site. Ideal for keeping upto speed on the Lady of Mann, which I have just observed docking at Heysham during the TT runs. She looked stunning as she docked at 22:30 well illuminated with both masthead lights and running lights spotted well out to sea. A true classic, a pleasure to admire in this modern age were ships these days are bordering on the ugly side! (09/06/2004)
