Offshore Subsea 1 Tries to Depart

Photographs © Ian Collard & John H. Luxton 2005

Laid up on Merseyside since 2003 the Offshore Support Vessel STEPHANITURM formerly owned by Horizon Offshore has recently been sold to Middle Eastern Interests.

Renamed OFFSHORE SUBSEA 1 and re-registered in Georgia she had been due to depart from Birkenhead Docks on the afternoon tide of December 23. She reached Alfred Half Tide dock aided by Adsteam tugs TRAFALGAR and BRAMLEY MOORE.

However, she developed technical problems and had to be brought back into Birkenhead Docks and was berthed at the former McTay fitting out berth at East Float where she remained on Christmas Eve (top right). At the time of compiling this page her register entry, below, had not been updated to refelect the recent change in ownership.
