| JULY 26, 2011 Improvements and modifications. Following feed back I have now made the main home page less confusing. Apparently some new web users did not find the main page very intuitive not realising they had to make a selection to go to the main ISS web site or one of the other linked sites. This has now been rectified. Typing www.irishseashipping.com now takes users to the home page with links to contents and the "What's New" page. On going modifications to the structure of the web site have continued over the past few days with the aim of removing the little used sub sites. The Lighthouses and Maritime Memorials sub-sites have been removed and the content integrated with the main site this will make further updates simpler and allow the material to be found more readily. It was becoming apparent that search engines were not returning details of the material on the sub-sites. All that remains to be done is the reintegration of the remaining archive material to the main site and the final removal of the archive sub site during the next few days. In the meantime I have highlighted the reintegrated content in the "What's New" page to give new web users a second chance to read old Voyage Reports (Many of these make fascinating reading now given that quite a few of the ships and companies reported on no longer operate !). I hope you enjoy looking back this old material. However it should be realised that no attempt has been made to update the material which is presented in original form. John Luxton July 26, 2011 |
